Word Pies

Hi Everybody, I hope that your week was good. I'm so excited and I have to share this with you. I've decided to focus on my writing and to keep me on that path, I have opened a new blog: Word Pies. I will still be posting at Swaddle Cottage and dividing my time as I am able. It may take me a little bit to balance so if I'm not here, pop by for a slice of pie :)

So now, what have you all been up to this past week? I'm coming to see!

Stepping Away

Hi Sweetie Pies! I hope that you all had a wonderful 4th! Ours was spent by the pool side and BBQ'ing with friends. A peaceful, relaxing day followed by tons of fireworks! A break I needed with all of this school work. Speaking of which, I'm going to be away this week...I have finals for two classes and one of them is that biology beast I have whined about previously. So far so good (still holding an A) but I'll need all of my spare time spent hunkered down and focused.
Wish me luck!
Dena

Sweet Surrender

I saw one of those pretty photo spreads recently showing one of those tranquil monochromatic cream/white looks. You know the kind that makes you think you could truly soak in the tranquility just by being in the room?

Then I looked at my kitchen chair covered with gingham, toile and pretty hand worked linen...and I thought "sweet surrender."

Cup of Whimsy

Whimsy...yes indeed. We all need a little cup now and again don't you think?

Tomato Patch Secret

When you live in a small space, inventing creative nooks becomes a vital aspect of decorating. Especially if you are an avid collector of all things...well, I guess I should stop there - "all things" sums it up rather nicely! This tin tomato patch sign hides a collection of vintage platters that I rely on regularly. The red curtains (I have shared before) but if you haven't ever seen them, they were placemats in a former life. Behind them hides a small collection of goodies that I change out. You know, Roosters, baskets, candles and the like.
The kitchen cart was purchased at Ikea a few years ago and since it was rather plain, I dressed it in a shade of country red. If you are a pink gal, image this in a pretty shade of pale rose with floral curtains that compliment your decor. Or how about black or white with toile? The choices are infinite!
Swaddle Cottage got it's name in part because of it's size. You see, I believe that small spaces should hug you, but never smother ;)
Hugs,
Dena
